A Systematic Review On Artificial Intelligence Based Adaptive Gamification in Knowledge Engineering


Abstract

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in adaptive gamification systems has received considerable interest for its ability to improve user engagement and educational results. This paper presents a comprehensive systematic literature review focused on the intersection of AI and adaptive gamification, aiming to synthesize existing knowledge and outline future directions in this rapidly evolving field. AI techniques such as machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), and recommender systems are frequently utilized to personalize gamified experiences based on user behaviour, preferences, and performance metrics. These AI-powered adaptations contribute to increased user engagement, motivation, and learning efficacy. Furthermore, the review highlights the challenges and opportunities inherent in AI-driven adaptive gamification, including issues related to data privacy, algorithmic bias, and scalability. Future directions outlined in the paper include the exploration of advanced AI models, the incorporation of multimodal data sources, and the development of ethical frameworks for AI-driven gamified systems. This systematic literature review underscores the transformative potential of AI in shaping the future of adaptive gamification. This article offers significant insights for academics, practitioners, and stakeholders who aim to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to improve gamified experiences in many fields, including education, healthcare, and entertainment. It does this by consolidating current knowledge and outlining potential avenues for future study.
